Filter socks for laboratories and research

Precise nylon mesh for sample work, and consumable socks for the coolant tanks on cutting and grinding machines.

Where they are used

  • Sample preparation. Recirculating coolant tanks on cut-off saws and grinders: a sock on the return line keeps swarf and abrasive out of the pump and off the next sample.
  • Sieving and separation. Nylon mesh has an exact square opening, so it works as a sieve: sediment, plankton and particle-size fractions.
  • Water and seawater pre-filtration ahead of finer stages in aquaria, flumes and culture systems.

What to choose

For a defined cut-off, choose nylon mesh: it stops everything above its rating, rinses clean and goes back in. 50 micron is the fine, general-purpose choice; 100 and 200 micron flow faster and last longer between cleans. For polishing, where you want the clearest liquid and treat the sock as a consumable, choose polyester felt.
